Using the CMS WCMSA Reference Guide as a foundation, understand the relationship between Workers' Compensation and Medicare, its history, and the statutory requirements, regulations, and compliance issues governing preparation and submission of a Medicare Set-Aside Allocation (MSA).
Understand when a WCMSA is appropriate, how it's used in the settlement process, the disciplines involved (legal, medical, insurance, financial, administrative), and Medicare's expectations when reviewing a WCMSA submission.

Reva Payne has over 25 years of relevant industry experience. Reva began her career in 1994 as a medical and vocational case manager working directly with individuals injured on the job. Reva holds master's degrees in both psychology and business, with extensive professional experience completing medical cost projections, life care plans, Medicare set-aside allocations, product development, management, and expert witness testimony for the Social Security Administration.
What is the MSCC?
Overseen and administered by the ICHCC, the Medicare Set-Aside Certified Consultant credential is designed to identify professionals working within the workers' compensation benefit system. Functionally, MSCCs interact within the Medicare universe as healthcare professionals, legal representatives, or insurance claims adjusters.
The MSCC certification designates those who have demonstrated competency and experience in their field while also completing specific pre-approved training in the Medicare set-aside trust arrangement process. Holding the credential also means agreeing to come under the scrutiny of the ICHCC's certifying review board, to be peer reviewed, and to adhere to a set of standards governing ethics and professional behavior.
