In this course we will discuss the growing human trafficking crisis in the United States. We will explore the role of healthcare professionals in recognition of trafficking victims, including risk factors that make people prone to human trafficking. We will provide several assessment tools for identifying victims and processes to assist these victims. We will discuss reporting responsibilities for victims under the age of 18. There are recommendations for referrals to various social and legal avenues should the victim wish to change their situation.

Course Overview
In this course we will discuss the human trafficking epidemic in the United States, specifically the role healthcare professionals can play in the recognition of victims of this crime. We will present the various risk factors that make people prone to human trafficking. We will provide several assessment tools that can assist healthcare providers in identifying and helping these victims. We will also explore the responsibility of reporting such victims who are under the age of 18. There are several federal agencies who maintain 24 hour hotlines for reporting and assisting healthcare professionals in conducting care for those who are victims. We will provide recommendations for referrals to various social and legal groups should the victim wish to change their situation.
