The basics of biomedical ethics have not changed. The ethical principles, theories, and values that guide decision-making in healthcare remain the same; however, the situations in which they are applied continue to evolve.
In this course, the foundational ethical principles and theories will be reviewed, along with their application in modern healthcare scenarios. Ethical decision-making will be examined through common situations involving confidentiality, conflict of interest, dual relationships, and emerging issues in healthcare practice.
The course also includes a review of the Codes of Professional Conduct for CCM, CDMS, CRC, NADAAC, and other healthcare disciplines, with emphasis on how these codes are applied in real-world situations.
