Course Overview

This course will discuss marijuana and medical marijuana from a Canadian perspective. We will present the history of marijuana in Canada. The second part of the course explains the new law in Canada making marijuana legal for recreational uses and its effects on the patients who now have medical cards for marijuana. The CMA and Canadian Nurses association have put forth recommendations to their members and both physicians and nurses have newly formed groups to promote medical marijuana and research. We present several scenarios in the course that healthcare professionals may find themselves in and the ethical dilemmas that could occur. At the end of the class is a paper released by Canada Health with the latest research regarding medical marijuana and multiple diseases.
