The Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) series fulfills the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA's) mission to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities by providing evidence-based and best practice guidance to clinicians, program administrators, and payers.

This TIP endorses a biopsychosociocultural framework based on clinical practice and research centered on women. The primary goal is to assist substance abuse treatment providers in offering effective, up-to-date treatment to adult women with substance use disorders.
