Course Overview
In this course, we will discuss human trafficking and the role healthcare professionals have in recognition of victims. We will present the different types of trafficking, touching on risk factors that make people susceptible. Several assessment tools and guidelines are presented to assist healthcare providers in identifying and assisting these victims. We will also touch on the responsibility of reporting victims who are under the age of 18. This course includes many different resources, outreach centers, and hotlines that can be contacted if a victim is identified. There are recommendations for referrals to social and legal avenues should the victim wish to escape from their situation.
